This is not the first National Geographic early reader book that I have purchased and, like with all the others, I'm not disappointed. The series is ample enough that you can find book (booklets, really) on just about any subject that intrigues the early reader you're trying to motivate. They are a great blend of education, information, and reading practice. My grandson much prefers these scientifically-oriented books to the ordinary reading material his school provides. Unfortunately, the system is set up so that he only gets "reading credits" for the books on a certain list that the school has testing materials on. So these books--while greatly contributing to his reading competency, his science knowledge, and his vocabulary--are only extra-curricular reading he gets no credit for.Still, I think that they are worth the investment. He has become a child that enjoys reading for its own sake, which is a lifetime gift.
I purchased this book in advance of taking my grandson to see National Geographic's Robots 3D.Here is the link to National Geographic's information about the movie. [...]The movie trailer is available online.[...]Most of the robots featured in this book were also in the movie. Reading the book provides opportunities for him to revisit the information presented in the movie. The book is a great little stand alone- even better when paired with the movie.
My toddler daughter loves robots. Real robots. So I got her this book as a surprise and she carries it everywhere, sleeps with it, loves the pictures. And I love reading it to her. There are so many things I didn't know about robots. This book is filled with amazing robot facts and real robots that do real jobs. My daughter now wants to be a roboticist.
I selected National Geographic Readers: Robots, DK Eyewitness Books:Robot, and Robotics: Discover the Science and Technology for donation to childrens library all three were good choices. I am pleased. So are the youngsters.
This is really a great book. The photographs and illustrations are quite nice, and the author displays a vast array of robots and possible applications in real-life. My 5-year old was puzzled by many of the less known applications (e.g. a robot teacher!) and we had long discussions at every page before we can move on. Highly recommended!!!
My son was so excited when his robot book arrived. He especially loves the page with Wall E on it.
Another Robot book winner for my son. I read it to my 2 year old son and he loves to ask questions. I purchased the hardbound copy as i knew he would want to read this book all the time. The illustrations are great and the writing is appropriately informative.
Bought for my daughter who is obsessed with robots. Now she is expecting me to get her a robot that can do her chores. I am glad that even though she is 6 she was still able to benefit from this book and it made her work harder to read those higher level words.
Fantastic book for young children. My 5 year old was super into it and I feel like we both learned a lot from it. Basic and easy to understand. We watched Wall-e right after and had some interesting conversations about how and why robots are constructed after.
