I purposely set out to find and read this book in order to know more about this fine woman (the author) and her remarkable story of love and devotion to the family members all around her. Enjoyed her wittiness, pranks, determination, and the family dynamics between her spouse, sister, mom, and dad. Very well written. Just enough to make you eager to read a few more pages, but not so much description that you find yourself skipping paragraphs to get to the next relevant point. Why haven't you written more?! Your style of writing is the type of book that I'll read!

If you or anyone you know has had a stroke, be sure to read "Into the Blue". Susan's experience with the medical rehab field is common not only in the remote state of Montana, but in major areas like Los Angeles. While each stroke is unique, the book shows the way in taking over the therapy process. I am amazed at what she and her sister learned on their own.The book was very interesting to me in several respects. I also have gone through the process of helping a loved one regain a useful life after a serious stroke. My wife Mary Deits experienced a major bleed and we too took over therapy ourselves with gratifying results. Mary has written a book "My Exciting Stroke" about her experiences of coming back.I am also a pilot and could really relate to Susan's father and his urge to fly again. I am especially impressed that he not only returned to flying, but flew vintage aircraft that are not easy to handle."Into the Blue" is also well worth reading just for the fun of it. A great book to curl up in front of the fireplace and read.

I can't wait to read this book. I just sent it to my dad for Father's day. He is a pilot and possibly the most stubborn guy I couldn't imagine not having in my life. This is a book that I know on which we will find common ground. This is a book we can talk about over a holiday meal. This book will save Thanksgiving dinner for years to come!I have had the honor and pleasure of knowing Susan Edsall, professionally and then personally. Susan has one of the keenest minds I have had the pleasure to be acquainted with. She sees the forest and the tree and will mind you to take time to care for both. She re-opened my eyes to learning again, to break existing mental models I held so dearly, and to see new possibilities. In fact, Susan was absolutely instrumental in my decision to pursue a Public Interest Law Degree at age 38. She does this all with a totally make-sense, can-do, practical approach towards understanding and resolving log jams, paradoxes, and conundrums of all sizes and complexities. She even does it while making you laugh. And by golly, if she can do that for me in my everyday and real life, I simply can't wait to blaze that trail in my relationship I share with my dad - for which I am certain a few mental models we each hold need a little sledge hammering.

I wanted to read this, after my husband said it was so good. Not really hurrying to do it until my sister recently had a stroke. After starting it I couldn't put it down. I just hope and pray my sister recovers in the way Wayne did. I feel sure she will give it her all!

Susan Edsall's last name caught my attention as I listened to her being interviewed on NPR, but it's much more than the name we have in common that has me ordering additional copies of her book for my family and friends. Susan's story is one for all families, a poignant tale of what "family" truly means. I laughed and cried as I read of her family's mission -- and its frequent battles, with itself and with the medical community -- to get her Dad, Wayne Edsall, back into the sky after his stroke.

Into The Blue is a very special story with endless ramifications. After a severe debilitating stroke that left Wayne Edsall unable to walk, communicate or read, doctors told his family he'd for sure never fly again. If you love stories about airplanes, miracles, true grit and determination, a special friendship between two guys and how they talk in real life, gutsy hold-nothing-back relationships, the unflagging human spirit - if you love good writing, you'll love this book.Wayne's story speaks to the importance of general aviation and how the dream to fly is a dream worth living for.

I expected a nice, feel good story, and I got that. What I didn't expect was the quality of writing. This story, and the way it was written, were both a joy.

I enjoyed this book. It was a classic "feel good," inspiring story with plenty of humor. The characters were real people with real feelings. I hope other families will realize that they can create their own hope in difficult situations.
