I totally enjoyed this book, it was very well written in English that could be clearly understood. It covers part of the 400 years from the Old Testament to the New Testament. I did not know much about the Maccabees so this book was very enlightening. I shared it with others in my Bible study group. Two other people bought the book and also liked it very much. I recommend this book to anyone wanting additional information about the 400 years for silence.

I do not know how such happened! Planned or unplanned! But what happened to the Hebrew people from 450 Before Common Era is of greater significance than the present rantings of present day Christianity or Islam. This is maybe a footnote, maybe???

Got it as a gift for my father. He loves it!

The Five Books of Maccabees is a deep dive into the history of the Jewish people that also gives you the full story behind Hanukkah, which is what I wanted to learn about, but I'm learning so much more!

A Historical and Informative Book...

as advertised!

A photographic reprint of a book is an inexpensive way to get out of print books. The publisher of this reprint has created a disaster. Instead of the introduction, the geneological lists, and a Greek proem, followed by five texts, we find the introduction [with errors], an undecipherable geneological list, an unreadable proem, and only two books of the Maccabees. Surely this is a publication that should be withdrawn from the market and recycled into pulp for an honest reprint.My thanks to the seller who canceled the purchase when I explained the faults and indicated he would withdraw his advertisement for its sale.
